Tips For Busy Working Moms: HelloFresh For Delicious Ingredients And Recipes In A Box

My tip for busy working Moms this week: HelloFresh!

If you can’t tell, I’ve been busy. I was shocked to see that my last post was almost a year ago. Shame on me. I moved to a new city, inherited a new team at work, and have been busy traveling back and forth to Philly, raising my child, and trying to get acclimated to my new life. But I happen to be stuck at O’Hare today, and I happen to have something super-cool I wanted to share with my fellow busy working moms, so I thought I’d fire up the blog post again. My tip for busy working Moms … Continue reading

Why Babywearing is So Great

babywearing, baby wearing

The concept of babywearing isn’t a new one, but it’s not a common practice among parents. Of course, caring for my infant daughters would have been easier eight years ago if I would have known that I could wear my child like a satchel. I could have avoided soreness in my arms and shoulders from having to carry children for five straight years – two girls born two years apart. But now I look back and wish I could have had the opportunity to invest into this practice. 1. Babywearing keeps your little one in plain sight – One of … Continue reading

Mare’s Favorite Finds for Moms from Expo West 2013, Part 2

I can’t believe this. Expo West 2013 is old news by now, and here I am just getting around to publishing Part 2 of my favorite finds for Moms, after publishing Part 1 more than two months ago. Sheesh. Blame it on the packing and moving the whole family across the country, I guess. Well, I DID find some amazing gems there, so I will still share under the old “better-late-than-never” principle. Best Find for Moms on the Road: If you’re like me and have to travel a lot for work, and yet don’t do well sleeping in hotel rooms, … Continue reading

I’ve been a bad, bad blogger. Again.

Happy little Apple small

This is bad, this is really bad. I haven’t blogged in more than a month. Sigh. I have excuses, though. My main excuse is that I moved to the Midwest in early April with my hubby and the little Aple. Yes, I never thought I would leave California willingly, without being dragged kicked and screaming out of the state. But I got this great opportunity at work, and it meant working with a team based out of Philadelphia, and those SFO-PHL flights were just killing me. So why not just move out to Philly? Well, we have family here in … Continue reading

Review of Natural Hair Care By NATU

NATU Haircare

By Katy Care I have been trying a lot of natural hair care products and haven’t fallen in love with any of them until I found NATU hair care.  I was on a mission when I went to the Natural Products Expo; I wanted to find natural hair care products that did not have the harsh chemicals and made my hair look and feel great. The issue I have with the other products I tried was that my hair didn’t feel moisturized.   They made my hair look like a rat’s nest in the morning.  I’m sure it wouldn’t look like … Continue reading

Mare’s Favorite Finds for Moms from #ExpoWest 2013, Part 1

ProBugs Bites

This year’s Expo West was a treasure trove. From new foods to new green inventions to new “drinkable” vitamins to new wellness beverages, there was something for every kind of naturally minded Mama. I have curated them for you in the next couple posts, starting with the best new foods. Best New Foods You know, at times I think it’s getting ridiculous. When you walk up and down the aisles stuffing your face at Expo West, you see all kind of “free” foods advertised. As in, “gluten-free,” “soy-free,” “GMO-free,” “nut-free,” etc. etc. As one guy next to me asked, “So … Continue reading

Mare’s Favorite Finds for Kids from #ExpoWest 2013

I love going to ExpoWest, even though my dogs bark pretty loudly by the end of it…seriously, I think my bottom half wanted to secede from my top half midway through Day #2. This year, as with every year, I got all inspired by the people I met and the cool trends I observed. And this year, as with every year, I found lots of wonderful gems that I hope to be able to find on a nearby retail shelf sometime soon. Here goes my roundup of the best kid products for holistically-minded Moms from Expo West 2013: Best Kid … Continue reading

Interesting Trends from Expo West 2013

Expo West Floor 2

Another year, another crowded Expo West. This year was more crowded than ever before, in fact, hitting record numbers of attendees and exhibitors alike. The explosion of natural foods, natural beauty care, healthy beverages, and healthy supplements is not just breathtaking anymore…it’s downright mind-boggling. This year, I spent two days walking the entirety of the “Hot Products” pavilion and the “Next” pavilion, plus took on a bunch of appointments on the main floor, where all the vendors with the real money competed to outshine each other. By the end of it, my feet were begging for respite. Still, despite the pain, … Continue reading

Reader Question: Essential Oil Blend for Bumpy Skin?

Fan mail from readers

I recently got this email from a reader, and because I still am not able to get comments on the most popular post I have ever written, I am continuing to respond to them via blog post so I can get them answered, and so other people can see my answers: I just discovered your site recently and finally finished reading through all the comments! Your explanations are very clear. I think it’s the most informative site on essential oils that I’ve come across. The only oil I’ve ever used is tea tree but I’d really like to try more. … Continue reading

Guest Post: How to Get Kids to Eat Healthy Food, Part 2

Aside from starting kids off at an early age with good eating habits, I believe that making food look fun and appetizing is key to getting them to enjoy eating healthy food. My Japanese heritage reinforced the importance of presentation of meals. Instead of fat and carbohydrate-laden, processed-food school lunches, you may have heard of the “bento-boxes” that Japanese moms make for their kids. Everything is carefully arranged, taking into account color, texture, size and shape of the food to create a work of art, almost too good to eat. See Bento Box Lunches and Adventures in Bento Making for … Continue reading
