Holistic protection against radiation clouds.
I’m not going to argue whether the radiation cloud from Japan will reach us or not. I am not qualified to discuss that topic whatsoever, and far more intelligent people than me are already doing so. What I do want to share is what I have learned from the great holistic and naturopathic practitioners in our area and their recommendations for how to protect yourself and your family from radiation. I have been following Dr. Kim Millman, MD, PhD, Dr. Ruth Bar-Shalom, ND, and Dr. Dorothy Ponton, DC, a chiropractor in the South Bay, and here’s what they have shared: … Continue reading
Japan, Tsunami, Nuclear Disaster. Can’t think about anything else.
I started to blog about my favorites coming out of Expo West, but I just couldn’t get past the first paragraph. It just didn’t feel right or authentic when the only thing that has been on my heart and mind all day and all night is this tragedy that has struck our neighbors in Japan. I have been watching the news with an overwhelming feeling of helplessness. My heart actually hurts as I clutch my baby and my husband a little closer to me, so thankful that I am able to hold them, so sorry that many Japanese people cannot … Continue reading
Expo West: Mind Officially Blown.
As I blogged a couple days ago, I ventured down to Anaheim to attend the Natural Products Expo (“Expo West,” as it is called in the health & wellness industry). I think my experience can be summed up in two words: HOLY COW. I’ve been to the Anaheim Convention Center many times, but it was never like this. It should have been called, “Explo West” – as in, Explosion. Yes. Hall upon hall was filled to the rafters with booth after booth displaying natural products of every kind, from organic and specialty foods to organic pet care to organic health … Continue reading

Ode to my Little Apple
Dearest Xiao Ping Guo (“Little Apple” in Mandarin): This is your Mommy. I am proclaiming my love for you to the whole world, so that you will believe me in 15 years or so, when you are in your turbulent teens, that I really do love you and am not just saying it. You’ll be able to find this on the Internet, immortalized for eternity. I love you with a passion bordering on madness. I have loved you from the moment you were born. I only *thought* I couldn’t love anyone more than I love your Daddy…but I was … Continue reading
Volunteering at League of Angels, for Vitamin Angels
So I left my baby girl for a night to fly down to Anaheim to volunteer at the Vitamin Angels event Thursday night and to attend the Natural Products Expo West convention (which I will blog more about tomorrow). Although it was hard for me to spend a night away from my little Apple (my nickname for Aria, because of her apple-y cheeks that are yummy enough to bite), it is a cause so near and dear to my heart that I could not resist. Ever since Aria was born, my heart has been swollen with love. Truly. I feel … Continue reading

Homeopathy and Whooping Cough
What is whooping cough? A contagious respiratory catarrhal disease characterized by paroxysmal cough and the classical whoop. Homeopathy can help with Whooping Cough! For the last 100 years, homeopaths have successfully treated whooping cough with homeopathic remedies. It is well documented in the homeopathic texts and I have also experienced success in treating this in my own practice. Even if you decide to take antibiotics, the remedies can reduce the severity of the cough and improve the overall energy of the person. The duration of the illness will then reduce as well. So it is not necessarily a choice between … Continue reading

Wow, got laid out flat by some kind of virus.
It’s a good thing I just recently blogged about Zinc lozenges and how they can “shorten duration and severity of a cold.” I now have occasion to know that they work! Yes, I who possesses the alleged steel immune system, of the constant boasting that “I NEVER get sick,” of the never-ending taunting of others who do frequently get sick, I got sick AGAIN!! Dang, it’s like karma came along and said, “Hey, guess what? I AM a bitch! And all that comeuppance you got comin’ to ya with all your previous boasting, you get to pay for that in … Continue reading

NOW I know what teething is.
I only thought I understood teething before, what with the fountains of drool, the mild irritability, etc. The last several nights, Aria has dutifully fallen asleep at 7pm, only to wake up at 7:45pm crying in pain. At least, I interpreted it to be pain because the all-time panacea, i.e., offering her the breast, did not work. She would try to nurse, but then start crying even harder, as if it hurt to nurse. I wonder if teething is also the reason why she’s pooping at 4am? I *have* heard that a mild fever and diarrhea can be the side effects of … Continue reading
Wahoo! I’m a milk truck again.
Remember my sad little, poor-me post about losing my breastmilk supply? Well, boo hoo no longer! I am happy to report that drinking Mother’s Milk Tea (I got the kind from Traditional Medicinals) and upping my pumping to 4x a day has re-started the milk production and the flood gates are now open! Sheesh, that fenugreek really does work, but I guess it takes 3-4 days to kick in. I was down to pumping out only 4-5 ounces in two pumping sessions at work. After 4 days of downing the tea and adding an extra pumping session in the morning BEFORE … Continue reading
